FAQs
GENERAL Q's
Are all of your products handmade?
You better believe it. Each and every product is made by hand inside the store. Customers who are coming in for purchases often see me crafting the next batch of soap, perfume, candles, etc.
Are your products vegan? cruelty-free?
Yes. Nothing dies to contribute to my product line. We do use goat milk in two of our soaps, but that is the extent of animal products.
Do you use sustainable or eco-friendly materials?
We strive to use sustainable packaging whenever possible and are always looking for ways to improve our environmental impact.
I have an event coming up. Do you do custom gift sets or orders?
Yes, we certainly do. It's fun getting an order for a special event, party, or gathering of any sort. Please reach out to hello@ochreandco.com with any and all details!

We do not ship internationally.
Can I pay for express delivery?

CANDLE & WAX MELT CARE
What kind of wax do you use in your candles?
We use a proprietary combination of coconut and soy for our candles.
How long should I let my candle burn?
For 12oz candles, burn them in four hour intervals. This will ensure optimal melt pools. It is normal for a coconut soy wax to not achieve a full melt pool in the first couple of burns. It will catch up as the candle melts down further in the jar.
For 5oz candles, burn until you've achieved a full melt pool. These are less finicky, and you can burn them for less time than the larger ones. However, please be cautious as the tin does get hot as the candle burns.
Do I really need to trim my wicks between burns?
Most definitely, yes! This helps ensure that your candle burns safely and doesn't turn into a torch. You'll want to trim your wicks to 1/4" tall after the wax has completely cooled and set. You can do this using wick trimmers, scissors, or even finger nail clippers. It's important to do this each time.
What are some precautions I should take when I'm using a candle?
Keep a lit candle away from children and pets. It should be monitored (not abandoned) at any time. Refrain from placing a lit candle near any linens, pillows, and drapes. Anything flammable can become a target. Candles should be placed on a flat surface. Do not place anything in the candle that didn't come with it. Secondary ignition can cause house fires. Do not move the candle while it is lit. The vessel can get very warm (and hot if burned for too long), and it does become a burn risk.
How do I use a wax melt?
Wax melts are a great option for flameless scent. You can use the type of melters that plug into the wall, or you can use the ones that employ tea lights. Both work beautifully. Ensure that the wax doesn't overflow the dish. This is a burn hazard and just plain messy to clean up.
To remove the wax from the melter, most dishes can be placed in the freezer. When it has frozen completely, it will contract and pop right out.
What kind of wax is in your wax melts?
We use 100% soy wax for our wax melts.
SOAPS & BODY PRODUCTS
How should I store my soap?
Soaps should always be stored somewhere that they can receive adequate drainage. Water buildup around a bar of soap will cause it to breakdown and disintegrate, which means less soap for you to use. Keeping it out of water will prolong your use of the bar.
Are your soaps good for sensitive skin?
Yes, our soaps are specially formulated to be gentle and nourishing. If you have specific skin concerns or allergies, feel free to contact us, and we’ll help guide you to the best option.
What about storing my shampoo and conditioner bars?
These also need to be kept out of water. The longer they sit in it, the shorter life you'll get from them. Soap dishes with drainage holes or raised racks work the best. These are relatively inexpensive, and they do so much to preserve your products.
Are the soaps too pretty to use?
Funny you should ask.. We hear this often, but we promise—they’re made to be used and enjoyed! Treat yourself to the beauty and luxury every day. Think of it as you absorbing the pretty. You're worth it.
PERFUMES
How long do your perfumes last?
Our perfume sprays and oils are designed to linger for several hours. Longevity can vary depending on skin type and activity level.
Do you have any unisex perfumes?
Our opinion is that if you like the smell, then it's for you. Many of the scents we offer work well for anyone, but if you lean towards any particular scent family, make sure you read the descriptions to see if the scent is a good match for you. You can also reach out to us at hello@ochreandco.com for recommendations.
What's the best way to apply the perfume oils?
Apply to pulse points like your wrists, neck, or behind your ears for the best scent experience. Due to the oily nature, we do not recommend applying it to linens or fabric of any type due to staining.
RETURNS
Can I return any of the products I purchase?
Unfortunately, no. Due to the intimate nature of the products we produce, we are unable to accept returns. However, if there is a problem or concern with your order, please contact us so that we can make it right. We truly care about your experience with us, and we want to hear from you. Please email us with your order number, the concern, any photos that detail the concern, and the best way to reach you. You can email us at hello@ochreandco.com.
